‘Are you going to CAPS?’

A question I have been asked many a time, upon divulging the fact that I am sad, or distressed, or scared, or feeling unstable. To answer the question: no. I am, in fact, in therapy. But I use a separate system that has proven to be much better for my overall mental health. That is not the point of this piece. What I want to talk about is my loved ones, and my not so loved ones, who feel that this is an appropriate question to ask.

Stanford concussion education initiative partners with Pop Warner

On Oct. 18, the concussion-awareness initiative known as CrashCourse, developed by Stanford researchers and student-athletes, announced that it has partnered with Pop Warner, the country’s largest youth football organization for children five to 16 years old. CrashCourse aims to promote dialogue about head injuries and to encourage early reporting of concussion symptoms among youth football players nationwide.

Ad campaign targets 700 incidences of potentially fatal infections at Stanford Hospital

As part of a campaign by a branch of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), an advertisement criticizing the Stanford Health Care (SHC) system is currently being broadcast on radio stations across the Bay Area. The ad primarily discusses above-average rates of patient infection at Stanford Hospital, although the larger campaign also addresses working conditions at the Hospital.
