The Omicron Chi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention sponsored the Out of the Darkness Walk on Sunday, April 30 with the help of several other Stanford Greek organizations. Around 200 students and community members joined to raise money and awareness for suicide prevention by walking 5k around campus.
Early Sunday morning, over a hundred students from a variety of groups, majors, and backgrounds took a walk together in Stanford’s first Out of the Darkness Walk to raise awareness about suicide prevention.
In this year’s elections allocating funding, seven groups, out of a total of 70, did not receive the resources they requested. Several of the student groups in question were shocked at the outcome of the election, having fully expected to be funded.
