Kleinheinz Family Professor of European Studies Richard Saller announced that he will step down as dean of the School of Humanities and Sciences (H&S) on Sept. 1, 2018 and return to teaching full-time at Stanford.
Last summer, Claudia McKenzie ’18 uncovered a 10,000 year old painting using just small dental tools. The find came during McKenzie’s first experience with archaeology, at the Stanford Archaeology Center’s “field school” in Catalhoyuk, Turkey.

It’s such a shame, really, that this is the state of freshman-year humanities at one of the world’s top-ranked humanities schools. Because whether we like IHUM or not, the humanities should play some role in every college student’s education, no matter what you want to do or who you want to be.
