Men’s water polo loses heartbreaker in invitational finals

The Stanford Men’s Water Polo Team fought well at the Mountain Pacific Invitational Meet held in Avery Aquatic Center this past weekend.

The No.1 seeded Cardinal (13-1) geared up for their first match of the weekend against the San Jose State Spartans (15-7). Sophomores Ben Hallock and Tyler Abramson had an impressive showing putting up 4 and 2 goals respectively. By the end of the game nearly every one of the Cardinal in the water scored at least one goal. With a final score of 19-8, it was smooth sailing to a victory for Stanford in the opening game.

Stanford athletes to watch in 2018-2019

The end of a sports season can be a sad and upsetting time. There are no games to watch, wins to celebrate or losses to mourn. It is an unsettlingly empty feeling. As a Stanford sports fan, what are we to do when no sports seasons are in progress? Are we supposed to reflect on the four national championships we won last year? Reflection only takes us so far before we crave the beginning of a new season. Are we supposed to watch professional sports? In the mid-summer months, we have nothing to watch but meaningless midseason baseball games and the NBA Summer League, the latter of which is an especially miserable way to spend a summer day.
