The following questions were answered by The Daily’s Vol. 259 Audience Engagement Managing Editor Michael Espinosa.
What work does your section do?
We’re responsible for the day-to-day management of The Daily’s main social media accounts: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn. This involves posting the content other sections produce and coming up with our own original content.
What does joining your section entail? How much work does it look like per week?
Joining section involves joining the slack channel #social-media-259 and coming to our weekly meetings. Even if you decide not to take on one of the duties mentioned above, we still really like to hear people’s ideas.
When does your section meet?
Sunday 2 p.m. PT. Meetings last for about 20 minutes.
How can people join your section?
Just join the slack channel and come to meetings! I cannot emphasize how this is basically like the lowest bar to be a part of a section of The Daily. Where else can you call yourself part of a section while only showing up to a 20-minute zoom meeting each week?
Who can people contact with questions about your section or to join?
What could a writer stand to gain by joining your section?
You can add social media skills to your resume, which make you a much more attractive candidate for whatever field you want to enter for a career.
How can people submit ops/grinds/freelance pieces/etc.?
DM us an idea for a TikTok or funny tweet!
