Two senators named in the complaint filed by Carmen Kang filed a response to the Constitutional Council. Some senators and students criticized the attention to the case amid other campus issues.
The Elections Commission filed a response to Kang's complaint and called for her expulsion from the Senate. As the Constitutional Council considers Kang's complaint, the University wrote that they do not believe security presence is needed at this time, but they continue to evaluate concerns raised by senators.
Kang argued that improper ties existed between the candidates and the pro-Palestine encampment. “Activities by the encampment inherently doubled as campaign events for them,” Kang wrote in the complaint.
