The 15th ASSU Undergraduate Senate passed a funding bill totaling $1,409.88 for Noopur, Stanford’s Indian Classical Dance Team, in an emergency online meeting on Saturday afternoon.
While Noopur had missed the deadline for seeking Senate funding, Senate Chair Ben Holston ’15 justified making an exception on the grounds that the group “desperately needed the money.”
“While it may seem trivial to have an entire meeting for one group, we did it because they needed over $1,400 and we did not want to make them come up with this money themselves,” Holston wrote in an email to the Senate mailing list on Saturday afternoon. “Our role is to help student groups by giving them the money they need, and we did that today.”
