On Friday and Saturday, No. 25 Stanford men’s wrestling (7-3, 1-1 Pac-12) fell to both No. 20 Purdue (6-8, 2-5 Big-10) and Indiana (5-10, 1-6 Big-10) at 9-22 and 7-30, respectively.
No. 22 Stanford men’s wrestling (6-1, 0-1 Pac-12) decimated Cal Baptist (1-3) last Friday but faltered on Sunday against CSU Bakersfield (5-7, 2-1 Pac-12), tarnishing the Cardinal’s otherwise spotless record. The 40-4 outcome in the match against the Lancers came as no surprise, but the follow-up game against the Roadrunners caught Stanford off-guard.
No. 21 Stanford wrestling (1-0, 0-0 Pac-12) took a day-trip to CSU Bakersfield (3-3, 0-0 Pac-12) this past Sunday for the Roadrunner Open, where 13 out of 18 Cardinal wrestlers placed. Sophomore Dominick Mandarino and freshman Shane Griffith also took the top spots in the 157-pound and 165-pound weight classes, respectively. For comparison, only six Cardinal placed and no Cardinal won a 1st-place title at last year’s tournament.
No. 25 Stanford wrestling is gearing up for an all-day tournament at CSU Bakersfield on Sunday. The tournament will bring in wrestlers from all divisions, and though the Cardinal have had some trouble at this event in the past, their recent performance over SF State shows that this year’s squad is not messing around.
No. 21 ranked Stanford wrestling (0-1, 0-0 Pac-12) will take on California Baptist (2-0, 0-0 RMAC) and CSU Bakersfield (2-1, 0-0 Pac-12) on Saturday in two consecutive matches. These matches will mark the home openers for the Cardinal wrestling season, the first two in a total of seven home matches.

Last Saturday, the Stanford wrestling team defeated San Francisco State 28-11 on campus before falling 24-13 to CSU Bakersfield on the road the following day. Next up it faces the tough task of No. 12 Central Michigan at Senior Day this Saturday.
