Despite big wins over USC and then-No.14 UCLA, the Stanford women’s basketball team was still unable to break back into the top-five rankings this week, remaining at No. 6 in the nation for a second week. The Cardinal (16-2, 5-1 Pac-12) has another chance this weekend to prove their dominance against Utah (10-7, 1-5) and No. 20 Colorado (15-2, 4-2).

W. Basketball: Seniors cap perfect home career with rout of Utah; VanDerveer wins No. 700 in Cardinal
The Stanford women’s basketball team defeated Utah 69-42 at Maples Pavilion on Senior Day on Saturday in the last home game of the Pac-12 conference season. After routing the Utes by halftime, the Cardinal struggled a bit in the second half, but ultimately the visitors’ resurgence was futile. When all was said and done, Stanford extended its winning streak on the Farm to 78 games, and head coach Tara VanDerveer won her 700th game in charge of the Card.
Last night the Stanford women’s basketball team extended its unbeaten streak in the Pac-12, defeating Utah 62-43 in Salt Lake City.
First the coaches, and now the media, have chosen the No. 5 Stanford women’s basketball team to capture its 11th consecutive conference title in the inaugural Pac-12 season. In the Preseason Media Poll, released by the conference on Tuesday, the Cardinal received all 11 first-place votes for 131 total points.
