Former Cardinal soccer player Rachel Buehler ’07 earned her 100th cap in an American uniform on Wednesday, scoring the game-winning goal for the U.S. in a 3-0 win against Iceland. It was just her fourth international tally and came on the same field where she played in her first game for the U.S. women’s national team in 2008.

Stanford welcomed the Stars and Stripes women’s lacrosse event to campus over the weekend, which matches top collegiate and international teams. Stanford would go on to lose a game against Team USA 17-6.
Team USA could emerge victorious in a game against its Olympic predecessor. This doesn’t mean they would win a seven-game series. It doesn’t even mean they would win a winner-take-all contest.
