Last Saturday night, hundreds of students rolled out to the Sigma Nu lawn for Snowchella, the yearly benefit concert that brought to campus three impressive acts: psychedelic rock band Cuckoo Chaos, disco-house producer Shook and music industry boss Salva.
The ASSU Undergraduate Senate allocated grants to 12 student groups hosting winter quarter events this week, disbursing just under $50,000 as part of the Senate’s new initiative to reduce its buffer fund.
What do professional sound men, three up-and-coming artists from disparate genres and an incongruous gazebo-shielded stage on Mayfield Avenue have in common? They all were part of Sigma Nu and Kappa Kappa Gamma’s third annual Snowchella benefit concert.
The second annual Snowchella, hosted by Stanford Concert Network, Sigma Nu and Kappa Kappa Gamma, is this Friday at 9:30 p.m. on Sigma Nu’s front lawn.
Organized by and with donations from Stanford Concert Network, Sigma Nu and Kappa Kappa Gamma, Snowchella was a rare weekend night where students didn’t have to venture off campus to find a concert worth attending.
Saturday’s widely attended Snowchella benefit concert at Sigma Nu featured three bands and raised money for Support for International Change, which works to alleviate the effects of HIV/AIDS in Tanzania. See Friday’s Intermission for full coverage.
