Last night, thousands of Stanford students enjoyed the “Welcome Home Fest,” which drew students to many programs across campus.
Basically, I know nothing about life in college, except for one thing: it can be horrifically awkward. Over the last six days, my fellow frosh and I have been forced to endure hundreds of handshakes, thousands of introductions and countless “ice-breaker” games that completely fail at breaking the ice.
Tonight, Stanford will make a change to the traditional New Student Orientation calendar with the “Welcome Home Fest,” a series of activities in which new and returning students will be able to participate.
Over the next several weeks, class of 2015, you will be bombarded by new names, faces and Facebook friends, all spanning a wide range of ethnic, socioeconomic, geographic and cultural backgrounds. But despite this rich diversity, some like-minded types seem to pop up all over campus every year. With that in mind, here are five people that you are certain to come across in your freshman dorm.
Stanford’s 1,709 freshmen and approximately four dozen transfer students move in today, marking the commencement of New Student Orientation (NSO) 2011 and the University’s 121st Opening Convocation Ceremony, which will occur today at 4 p.m. on the Main Quad.
Kappa Sigma returned yesterday from its conference before the national Supreme Executive Committee (SEC) with its charter intact. The fraternity’s on-campus housing remains at the discretion of the University.
This is my last hurrah of sorts before I take a five-month hiatus to fulfill my role as editor in chief. Writing a weekly sports column has become a staple of my life, and without getting too romantic, it’s gonna be missed.
