When Cal comes to town, Stanford teams find a new level of intensity in their play. It was no different for the No. 26 women’s tennis team (5-2) as it used a renewed commitment to high-energy play to achieve a 6-1 non-conference victory over No. 9 Cal (5-4).
The Stanford women’s tennis team suffered only its third home loss since 1999 on Saturday when it fell to No. 47 Saint Mary’s (5-3) in a close 4-3 match.
The No. 5 Stanford women’s tennis team reappears on the courts today in the season opener against UC-Davis. The small but determined eight-girl squad looks for redemption after losing to USC in last year’s NCAA quarterfinals in May.
