M. Volleyball: Windy City schools swept

After dropping the opening frame at Loyola of Chicago, the Stanford men’s volleyball team captured three straight sets for a hard-fought 3-1 victory. With the win, the No. 2 Cardinal (8-2, 5-2 MPSF) finished off its sixth road match in its last seven games, concluding a trip that began on Jan. 21 and saw Stanford play seven matches in three different time zones, including stops in Hawaii, Los Angeles and Chicago. The Cardinal finished the tour with a 5-2 record.

M. Volleyball: Defending the title

Just three years removed from a painful 3-25 season, the 2010 Stanford men’s volleyball team used the slogan “Worst to First” as it stormed to the program’s second NCAA Division I title. Eight months later, tonight is the beginning of what players and coaches have deemed the “First to First” season with its first match against UC-Santa Cruz.

Players and students rushed the court as the No. 1 seed Stanford men’s volleyball team swept No. 3 seed Penn State in a near-perfect performance to win its first national championship since 1997.
