Higher Ground,” a student-created musical, will debut this Saturday, March 1, at 7 p.m. in Dinkelspiel Auditorium. This musical seeks to establish the legacy of gospel music through a powerful synthesis of student actors, choreographers from Stanford’s dance department, the student a capella group Talisman, a choir from San Jose and deep historical research.
On Friday, Kevin Coelho ‘17 will celebrate the release of his second album, “Turn It Up,” with a performance at Dinkelspiel Auditorium. For Coelho, the album represents his continued artistic growth, growth which has had a home at Stanford for the past seven years.
On Saturday, jazz bass legend Stanley Clarke will take the stage at Dinkelspiel Auditorium with his trio – comprised of pianist John Beasley and drummer Mike Mitchell – for what is sure to be one of the highlights of the Stanford Jazz Festival. In anticipation of the show, Intermission talked to Clarke about his upcoming performance, his approach to composition and the future of jazz.
