It was an upset for the ages. So much for Matt Barkley’s Heisman hopes. So much for USC’s title aspirations. And so much for Stanford’s supposed decline after the Andrew Luck era. No. 21 Stanford (3-0, 2-0 Pac-12) took down mighty No. 2 USC (2-1, 0-1 Pac-12) tonight, gutting it out for an incredible 21-14 upset.
As college football braces itself for the colossal Pac-12 showdown between Stanford and USC tonight, the din of pre-game anticipation has grown to a deafening level. Amidst the noise is the sound of the menacing, steady footsteps of the Men of Troy, gearing for battle and marching their way north to invade the Farm. Make no mistake: The Trojans are coming in full force.
Now that’s the Stanford football team we’ve been waiting for.
But someone was left out of the spotlight. A Cardinal player was responsible for stripping the ball out of USC running back Curtis McNeal’s hands. What about the hero who made the play that essentially saved the Cardinal’s perfect season?
