Just a few months ago, senior running back Tyler Gaffney was pummeling his way to earning hard-earned yards against some of the most physical defensive fronts in the Pac-12, earning a reputation as a hard-nosed, sturdy back. At the 2014 NFL Combine over the weekend, however, the two-sport star turned quite a few heads around the country when he showed an ability to be fast and mobile in addition to his established skillset as a power back.
On the heels of a frustrating 17-13 defeat to Washington last Thursday, No. 18 Stanford (3-1, 1-1 Pac-12) will try to bounce back from its first loss when it clashes with Arizona (3-2, 0-2) in tomorrow’s homecoming game.
Washington (3-1, 1-0 Pac-12) gave No. 8 Stanford (3-1, 1-1) its first road test of the season, and the Cardinal convincingly failed, falling to the Huskies 17-13. The loss snapped Stanford’s four-game winning streak against its Pac-12 North foe.
