Stanford’s women athletes have been successful in their sports for well beyond just their time on the Farm. Over the past two seasons, Stanford women’s basketball has had three players taken in the first round of the WNBA Draft: Kayla Pedersen ‘11 (Tulsa Shock, 2011, seventh overall), Jeanette Pohlen ‘12 (Indiana Fever, 2011, ninth overall) and Nnemkadi (Nneka) Ogwumike ‘12 (Los Angeles Sparks, 2012, first overall).

The No. 2 Stanford women’s water polo team made the most of its first spring break trip by earning four wins this weekend, including a sweep through the Arizona State University Invitational.
The No. 2 Stanford women’s water polo team turned in a carbon copy of its first win over No. 10 San Jose State on Saturday afternoon, beating the Spartans by a 15-4 score for the second time this season.
After a shocking loss to No. 1 USC, the No. 2 Stanford women’s water polo team bounced back with a dominating 16-3 win over Cal State-Bakersfield to open conference play on March 2. Next up Stanford faces San Jose State this Saturday on campus.
On paper, the Stanford women’s water polo team has one of the most impressive rosters ever assembled in collegiate water polo. But championships are not won on paper, and on Friday, the preseason No. 1 Cardinal will dive in against No. 11 Michigan to kickoff its quest for a third consecutive national title.
