After seeing its three-tournament win streak snapped at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic in Hawaii, the Stanford women’s golf team is seeking a quick turnaround at the PING ASU Invitational starting tomorrow in Tempe, Ariz.
The No. 5 Stanford women’s golf team finished sixth at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic in Maui, Hawaii on Tuesday, lead once again by precocious freshman Mariah Stackhouse.
Mariah Stackhouse set a course record with a round of 61 (-10 under par), including an astonishing 26 on the front nine, en route to winning the Peg Barnard Invitational.
Redshirt senior linebacker Chase Thomas was named a semifinalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, which recognizes both athletic performance and personal character, on Thursday.
Entering its final tournament of the fall season, the women’s golf team hopes to build on its recent third-place finish at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational. The men’s team, on the other hand, is hoping to erase the past with a good finish at this weekend’s U.S. Collegiate Championship, hosted by Georgia Tech.
Senior Sally Watson is competing at the World Amateur Team Championships in Turkey, and the women’s golf team struggled without her at the team’s season-opening tournament in Tennessee.
