The Cardinal men’s and women’s diving squad and coach Rick Schavone — who was recently nominated to be the head coach for the U.S. diving team at the World Cup meet in February — are set to host the three-day Stanford Diving Invitational, which begins today. Five other teams will compete at the invitational, including Cal, UCLA, Cal Poly, Fresno State and San Jose State.
Men’s Swimming & Diving
The Stanford men’s diving program was buzzing with excitement last year when it landed the top two high school recruits in the country. Now, that excitement is shifting into results as Kristian Ipsen and Connor Kuremsky are in the middle of their freshman collegiate seasons and already impressing teammates and coaches alike.
After almost three weeks of uninterrupted training, the men’s swim team traveled to Cal for a scrimmage-like meet against rival California on Wednesday. If ever there was a “friendly competition” between Stanford and the Golden Bears, this meet might have been it.
