This week, the Stanford men’s crew team will prepare for the Head of the Charles Regatta (HOTC), the world’s largest two-day rowing competition. Since 1965, the HOTC has hosted the world’s best crew teams and attracts over 9,000 athletes and 300,000 spectators each year to the Charles River between Boston and Cambridge.
With this weekend’s forecast at the 111th Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships (collegiate rowing’s national title) calling for temperatures nearing 100 degrees, it’s only fitting that Stanford’s Varsity Eight is getting hot at exactly the right time.

Today marks the start of the IRA National Championship regatta in Cherry Hill, N.J. Both the Stanford men’s rowing team and women’s lightweight rowing team will compete at the event, which will last three days.
