With the two star juniors, slugging right fielder Austin Wilson and solid right-handed starter A.J. Vanegas, back in the mix, Stanford baseball looks to regain some national respectability in the Pac-12 Conference.
For the first half of the game, it looked as if the Cardinal was in for an easy victory against a scuffling Spartan team. The recently ignited offense pounded Spartan starter James Glawe for five runs on four hits in the second inning, greatly aided by a throwing error committed by first baseman Matt Carroll.

The Cardinal bats finally awoke, erupting for 20 runs on 40 hits over the weekend at USC as Stanford again took two out of three games from a Pac-12 opponent on the road but fell just short of a sweep for the second weekend in a row.
Despite a largely anemic offense, Stanford has been able to collect victories due to its rock-solid pitching staff, with the hitting and defense usually doing just enough to come out on top.
