According to a Faculty Senate report, the University’s system of committees provides “the best place for effective student participation in the governance of the University.” While students can serve on more than 40 committees in total, dealing with issues as varied as investment responsibility and laboratory animal care, their influence is often inconsistent and incomplete.
Julia Landauer ’14, a 21-year-old professional racecar driver and Stanford undergraduate, recently took part in “Survivor: Caramoan,” the latest installation in the long-running reality series. Lloyd Minor, the former provost of Johns Hopkins University, officially assumed his new position as dean of the Stanford School of Medicine on Saturday, Dec. 1. Minor succeeds Philip Pizzo, who stepped down from the post he had held since April 2001.
