Stanford voters back Obama, Democrats

Repeating the results of the historic 2008 presidential election, voters at campus precincts overwhelmingly supported President Barack Obama on Tuesday. An exit poll conducted by The Daily showed that 88.11 percent of campus voters favored granting the Democratic candidate a second term.

Lodger accused of sexual assault

On Feb. 15, a Toyon residential staff member alerted two University officials that Akeen Valdez, who is not a Stanford student but was living in Toyon with a resident, had been accused of sexual assault by a female Toyon resident. It would be more than a month before a stay-away letter was issued against Valdez, and more than two months before he would be escorted off campus by University officials.

Oprah Winfrey surprises students

Winfrey spent Thursday touring the University with two students from her Leadership Academy for Girls, which she founded in South Africa in 2007. Winfrey was spotted around campus taking pictures with Stanford undergraduates and being serenaded by the student a capella group Talisman.
