Police Blotter: May 13 to May 21

This report covers a selection of incidents reported between May 13 and May 21 as recorded in the Stanford Department of Public Safety (SUDPS) bulletin.

Tuesday, May 13

  • A hit-and-run, non-injury, vehicle vs. vehicle collision occurred around midnight at Burnham Pavilion.
  • A cable- and reportedly U-locked scooter was stolen from the bike rack outside the Avery Aquatic Center between May 5 and May 13.
  • Suspicious circumstances were reported at Paloma in Florence Moore Hall between May 12 and May 13. An individual was reported to have been engaging random females on campus in conversation, which led to an exchange of email information and persistent messages afterwards.

 

Wednesday, May 14

  • Six individuals were cited and released for trespassing at the Avery Aquatic Center around 11:30 p.m.

 

Thursday, May 15

  • The Palo Alto Fire Department and the SUDPS responded to a call of a Marguerite bus on fire at Palm Oval at the Marguerite Bus Stop between 11:25 a.m. and 11:35 a.m. The driver and the passenger on the bus were safely evacuated. The fire was extinguished and the bus was put out of service.
  • The rear tire of a bike locked to a rack was stolen from near Dinkelspiel Auditorium between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.
  • An unknown suspect or suspects spray-painted the word “stand” on the sandstone exterior of 419 Lasuen Mall between May 14 and May 15. The estimated cost of removing the paint is $1,500.

 

Friday, May 16

  • An incident of vandalism occurred between May 11 and May 16 at the Hewlett Teaching Center. An unknown suspect or suspects used a permanent ink marker to write the word “stand” several times across the top surface of a granite wall.
  • A bike that was U-locked to itself was stolen from near Tresidder Memorial Union between May 14 and May 16.

 

Saturday, May 17

  • An individual was cited and released for being a Minor in Possession of alcohol (MIP) at the 600 block of Lomita Court at 12:35 a.m.
  • An individual was arrested and transported to the San Jose Main Jail for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) at Lane W and Mayfield Avenue at 1:59 a.m.
  • An unknown suspect or suspects stole a wallet from an unattended backpack at the Burnham Pavilion between 9 a.m. and noon.
  • An unknown suspect or suspects stole an unattended backpack, which contained an iPhone, from Frost Amphitheater around 8 p.m.
  • An individual was cited and released for being a Minor in Possession of alcohol (MIP) at 11:15 p.m. at Mayfield Avenue.
  • An individual was arrested and transported to the San Jose Main Jail for Public Intoxication (DIP) at Sigma Chi at 11:30 p.m.

Sunday, May 18

  • An individual was arrested and transported to the San Jose Main Jail for Public Intoxication (DIP) at Sigma Chi at 12:35 a.m. The individual was subsequently transported to the San Jose Valley Medical Center.

 

Monday, May 19

  • An unknown suspect or suspects stole an envelope containing currency from the inside front pocket of the victim’s unattended backpack between 1:05 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Wilbur Dining.
  • An unlocked bike was stolen from a bike rack at the Blume Earthquake Engineering Center at Building 540 between May 16 and May 19.
  • Between May 18 and May 19, an unknown suspect or suspects spray-painted symbols on the Lake Lagunita Fire Pit. Stanford Facilities cleaned up the area the day of the occurrence.
  • A reportedly U-locked bike was stolen near Escondido Village III – Building 110 between May 18 and May 19.

 

Two medical alcohol transports were reported between May 13 and May 21.
