Stanford women’s golf birdies its way to victory at Silverado Showdown

No.3 Stanford women’s golf travelled to wine country for a three-day stay to compete in the Silverado Showdown, hosted by Oregon and Colorado at Silverado Resort and Spa’s golf course. Stanford freshman Andrea Lee and senior Casey Danielson both placed in the top four, and the the Cardinal poured in birdies en route to a team score of 16 under par, nine shots ahead of second place UCLA, in the 54-hole tournament.

W. Golf: Home headache for Cardinal

Riding high after a second place finish at the Cougar Invitational last month, the women’s golf team got off to a solid start as host of the Stanford Intercollegiate this past weekend, shooting a combined two-under to sit in fourth place after the first round of play. But trouble struck on the second day of competition, and the Card couldn’t make up much of the large gap in the third round either, finishing the 16-team event in a tie for 10th place.
