Stanford and BYU to clash in NCAA semifinals

The No. 3 Stanford men’s volleyball squad will face No. 2 BYU in the NCAA Tournament semifinals today in Chicago, Illinois. This will be the fourth meeting between the two teams this season. Win streak swept away in MPSF title match

The second-seeded Stanford men’s volleyball team was swept for the first time this season on Saturday, losing the MPSF title match to top seed BYU, 25-23, 25-22, 25-22, at the BYU Smith Fieldhouse in Provo, Utah. The loss ended the Cardinal’s impressive 13-match winning streak, which was their longest since 1997.

Cardinal slated to kick off MPSF Tournament against UC-Irvine

The No. 3 Stanford men’s volleyball team will head into Saturday with all of the momentum in the world on its side, as it has dominated as of late en route to its current 11-match winning streak. Next, the Cardinal (20-7, 17-7 MPSF) will look to carry that momentum through into the postseason as they will host No. 6 UC-Irvine (18-10, 15-9) in an MPSF Tournament quarterfinal match this Saturday at Maples Pavilion. Stanford is seeded third in the eight-team tournament and therefore has the home-court advantage over the sixth-seeded Anteaters.
