Jake Kneller is the lone senior on this year’s men’s volleyball team. Gone are All-Americans Brad Lawson and Erij Shoji, along with the rest of the class of 2012 that set a school record with 86 wins in four seasons. A co-captain with junior Brian Cook, Kneller sat down with The Daily to discuss the volleyball squad’s musical tastes and all things Stanford.
The women’s volleyball team’s 13-game winning streak was put to the test Friday night as they took on the seventh-ranked defending national champions UCLA at Maples Pavilion. UCLA battled hard in the five-set match, but in the end, it was the No. 4 Cardinal that came out with the win, improving its record to 16-2 overall. The Card is now 8-0 in conference play for the first time since 1998, when the team opened 17-0 overall.
After pulling out a tough five-set win against Oregon and taking care of business in three sets against Oregon State, the Cardinal extended its winning streak to 11 games and remained undefeated in conference play. USC and UCLA visit the Farm this week.
After dominating in its final two home games last weekend to clinch home-court advantage through the quarterfinals of the MPSF Tourney, the Cardinal (18-5, 15-5 MPSF) is looking to clinch its first conference title since 1997.
