Spring is truly an amazing time of year. The weather gets warmer, the hills of northern California get coated in lush green grass, people start their annual intake of allergy medications and class attendance drops as a function of both the weather and any rush-related events held the night before. However, all of these things pale in comparison to the biggest news that spring always ushers in with it: Football is back.

Gaffney leads Stanford showings at NFL Combine

Just a few months ago, senior running back Tyler Gaffney was pummeling his way to earning hard-earned yards against some of the most physical defensive fronts in the Pac-12, earning a reputation as a hard-nosed, sturdy back. At the 2014 NFL Combine over the weekend, however, the two-sport star turned quite a few heads around the country when he showed an ability to be fast and mobile in addition to his established skillset as a power back.

Gerhart readies for coming draft

Toby Gerhart declared for the NFL Draft in early January. Since then, his life has been a whirlwind of workouts, medical testing, interviews and drills. From training six days a week in Irvine, Calif., to performing in front of a legion of scouts, coaches and front office personnel at the Combine, Gerhart has been in full preparation mode for months. He’s aware of the stakes – impressing NFL staffs, and thus solidifying an early round status, could mean a difference of millions of dollars. And so he works.
