Wrestling opens regular season with outdoor meet

On Saturday, Stanford wrestling (0-0) is hosting its home opener against San Francisco State (1-1) in the open air at Stanford Athletics’ Fan Fest, right before the Oregon-Stanford football match. The Cardinal have recently tasted victory after two freshmen, Real Woods (141 pounds) and Shane Griffith (165 pounds), and one redshirt freshman, Haydn Maley (heavyweight), won the Princeton Open last Sunday.

Cardinal wrestling loses season opener to Virginia Tech, bounces back in Hokie Open

No. 21 ranked Stanford wrestling (0-1, 0-0 Pac-12) lost their season opener on Friday against No. 9 ranked Virginia Tech (1-0, 0-0 ACC). The Cardinal dropped the hard fought match 22-12, but displayed impressive performances from returners and freshmen. They bounced back Sunday during the invitational Hokie Open, claiming two individual titles and placing third in total team points.
