Claiming their second consecutive NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championship was simply the latest triumph for the 2018-2019 Stanford women’s tennis team (28-1, 10-0 Pac-12) in a season full of individual and team accomplishments.
After a clutch 4-3 win by No. 3 Stanford women’s tennis (25-1, 10-0 Pac-12) in their final home match of the season against No. 14 Kansas (21-5, 7-2 Big 12), the team heads to the USTA National Campus in Orlando Florida for the quarterfinals NCAA Division 1 Women’s Tennis Championship.
The No. 3 Stanford women’s tennis team (25-1, 10-0 Pac-12) defeated the No. 14 Kansas Jayhawks (21-5, 7-2 Big-12) on Friday in the Round of 16 of the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Tennis Championships. The Cardinal came out on top in a close 4-3 battle that was clinched by sophomore Janice Shin in a three-set battle with Nina Khmelnitckaia (3-6, 6-4, 6-2).
Seven members of the Stanford tennis program were named to the All Pac-12 teams, which was announced Tuesday on the Pac-12 News website.
In weekend that saw each team play two dual matches each, the Stanford men’s (11-2) and women’s (8-1) tennis teams played a total of 22 individual matches. They came out of the weekend with 21 wins.
The Stanford men’s and women’s tennis team will play two matches each this week in dual match play, with both of the men’s matches and one of the women’s matches being played at home at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
The No. 4 Stanford women’s tennis team will take on the No. 9 Texas Longhorns this Saturday at noon in a home dual match at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium. Last week, Stanford cruised past No. 6 Vanderbilt 6-1 at home in a rematch of the 2018 NCAA championship.

The No. 4 Stanford women’s tennis team crushed the No. 7 Vanderbilt Commodores 6-1, and the No. 6 Stanford men’s tennis team came back from behind to take down the No. 40 California Golden Bears 4-2.
