“This is the greatest honor of my professional career,” said Director of women’s swimming Greg Meehan after it was announced on Monday that he would take the reins as head coach of the 2020 U.S. Olympic women’s swimming team. Berkeley’s men’s head coach Dave Durden, who Meehan once coached under, was announced as the men’s head coach.
Former Stanford women’s swimming team members Simone Manuel and junior Katie Ledecky returned to the Farm this weekend with five national titles from Team USA’s Winter Nationals.
The Women’s Sports Foundation named Stanford sophomore Katie Ledecky their Sportswoman of the year on Wednesday night. The Sportswoman of the year is an individual or team sport athlete whose performances over a 12 month span have been exceptional, and includes such past winners as Simone Biles, Venus and Serena Williams, Abby Wambach, and Candace Parker.
