Following The Fountain Hopper’s publication of unverified claims that Stanford Law Professor John Donohue used racial slurs during an altercation with a recreational basketball player at the Arrillaga Outdoor Education and Recreation Center (AOERC), statements by Donohue and three witnesses — two of whom are Donohue’s sons — cast doubt on some of the allegations.
Stanford will rename the Serra freshman dorm and Serra House, two campus buildings honoring California mission system founder Father Junipero Serra, who has drawn sharp criticism for his mistreatment of Native Americans.
Stanford will also seek to rename Serra Mall, pending the approval of Santa Clara County and the U.S. Postal Service. This would change the University’s official address, which is currently 450 Serra Mall. If approved, Serra Mall will become Jane Stanford Way in honor of the University’s co-founder.
On Tuesday, Stanford College Republicans (SCR) hosted Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk and director of urban engagement Candace Owens for its final event of the year, titled “Make Stanford Great Again.” The lecture and question-and-answer session revolved largely around the stances listed on the event description:
The conservative youth organization Turning Point USA (TPUSA) added Stanford Professor David Palumbo-Liu to its “Professor Watchlist,” a project intended “to expose and document college professors who discriminate against conservative students and advance leftist propaganda in the classroom.”
