No. 20 Stanford women’s lacrosse advanced to the second round of the PAC-12 Tournament in Eugene, Oregon by beating Oregon, before being knocked out on Friday by No. 22 Colorado.
The No. 15 women’s lacrosse team (9-4) routed the San Diego State Aztecs 18-9 (8-5, 0-0 MPSF) on Thursday evening. The win comes just four days after a tough loss to USC in triple overtime on Sunday.
On an East Coast road trip from Friday to Sunday, No. 22 Stanford women’s lacrosse (4-1, 0-0 PAC-12) took its game to New York for impressive wins against Albany (3-1, 0-0 America East) and No. 10 Stony Brook (2-2, 0-0 America East).
On a wet chilly night at Cagan Field, No. 18 Stanford (0-1, 0-0 PAC-12) dropped its season opener against No. 19 Denver (1-0, 0-0 Big East) 8-7 in a game decided by inches in the very last seconds of play. Trailing 7-1 at the half, the Cardinal mounted a furious comeback that came up just short as senior Areta Buness fired a shot on goal in the waning moments of the game that caught a piece of Denver goalie Carson Gregg and rolled to a stop centimeters in front of the goal-line.
