Throughout the weekend, three California fires — one east of Chico and two west of Los Angeles — killed at least 31 people as of Sunday night and destroyed many more homes and communities.
Around 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, the NB429 Caltrain northbound to San Francisco was stopped at the San Mateo station following reports of a suspicious package on the train car.
Campus Drive has been closed from Mayfield Avenue to Junipero Serra Boulevard due to a gas leak at 1047 Campus Drive. The leak was first reported at 3:55 p.m., and both the Kappa Sigma and SAE houses were also evacuated at the time.
Three University facilities—Arrillaga Family Sports Center, Taube Family Tennis Stadium and Taube South Tennis Courts—were evacuated Tuesday morning in response to a gas leak in the vicinity. The area was reopened late Tuesday evening after repairs were completed.
The University evacuated and closed down Tresidder Memorial Union and surrounding buildings Tuesday morning in response to a report of a suspicious backpack found stuffed in a newspaper dispenser between the CoHo and Jamba Juice around 8:55 a.m.
At 12:31 p.m., the University announced that the police had determined that there was no threat found at Tresidder Union and that the area would be slowly reopened.
