Following the postponement of the 121st Big Game last weekend, Stanford football became a Sunday affair as alumni fought on the gridiron across the country. Week 11 wrinkled the normal expectations for Stanford in the NFL; Carolina Panthers’ running back Christian McCaffrey and Philadelphia Eagles’ tight end Zach Ertz were held to disappointing performances. Meanwhile, rookie Houston Texans’ safety Justin Reid was the highlight of the week for any Cardinal fan.
During a weekend in which Stanford’s current football team wasn’t exactly highlight-reel-worthy, some alumni stepped up on Sunday to remind everyone that the Cardinal still have a heavy influence throughout the ranks in pro football.

As far as football goes, the past few days have been some of the worst in history for me. My high school got matched up against a powerhouse in the CCS playoffs, Stanford suffered a horrific loss to the Men of Troy, the 49ers couldn’t put away the Saints and oh yes, my Patriots lost on Monday Night Football. About the Stanford loss I shall not speak one word, for that wound is still far too raw.
