A clarification of Common Core misconceptions

In recent years, polemical critics on both sides have obscured the legitimate issues surrounding the Common Core. Rather than promote rational dialogue, they have caricaturized the issue, depicting the standards as confusing, developmentally inappropriate, and tyrannical on one hand and as near-flawless, research-based brilliance on the other.

Talking Common Core Standards with Michael Kirst

Michael Kirst, professor emeritus of education and business administration at Stanford, currently serves as the President of the California State Board of Education. As president, Kirst has played an influential role in California public schools’ transition to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), which was implemented at the beginning of this school year.
