No. 12 Stanford men’s baseball (7-1) travels to Southern California tonight to avenge its conqueror in the last two NCAA tournaments, No. 25 Cal State Fullerton (4-2). Last year, however, Stanford swept the Titans at Sunken Diamond to open the 2018 season on their way to the second highest winning percentage in program history.
In the first midweek game of the season, No. 11 Stanford (7-1) outmuscled San Francisco (4-3) for an 8-3 victory on a wet afternoon at Sunken Diamond, marking the Cardinal’s 23rd straight triumph.
Freshman outfielder Christian Robinson’s walkoff RBI double in the bottom of the 13th inning sealed first-seeded Stanford baseball’s (45-10) 4-3 victory over fourth-seeded Wright State (39-16) on Friday night in Sunken Diamond.
The Cardinal will next face third-seeded Cal State Fullerton, which defeated second-seeded Baylor 6-2 earlier on Friday.
The bracket and seeding for the NCAA Division 1 Baseball Tournament was revealed on Monday morning.
As one of the eight national seeds (the Cardinal are second overall), Stanford baseball (44-10) will host a regional and if it wins the regional, then it will have a chance to host a super regional.
Stanford softball (13-8) continued its hot play by taking three of four games in the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, CA over the weekend.

It isn’t particularly fair to face an ace a day after facing one the night before, but that’s what No. 17 Cal State Fullerton (0-2) experienced in its 5-3 defeat to No. 13 Stanford baseball (2-0) on Saturday afternoon in Sunken Diamond.
Junior pitcher Tristan Beck missed all of the 2017 season after leading the team in ERA (2.48) as a freshman. Beck certainly didn’t look like a guy who hasn’t played in 20 months on today’s Opening Day.
