Cardinal women dominate defensively in the desert

The Arizona State University women’s basketball team had won 9 of their previous 10 games going into their home game last Friday against Stanford. The University of Arizona was on an even hotter streak, winning 12 of their past 13 games going into their home game on Sunday against the Cardinal. Both teams left the weekend disappointed as Stanford continued to show dominance in wins over two of the stronger teams in the Pac-12.

Women’s basketball gears up for Arizona road trip

After a slamming weekend at Maples Pavilion in which No. 6 Stanford women’s basketball team (12-1, 2-0 Pac-12) swept the USC Trojans (10-3, 0-2 Pac-12) and fought off the UCLA Bruins (9-6, 2-1 Pac-12) to secure two consecutive wins in their conference opener, the Cardinal look to increase their record to an eight game winning streak against No. 22 Arizona State (11-3, 2-1 Pac-12) on Friday at 6pm.

Women’s basketball opens Pac-12 play with a Southern California sweep

After the best non-conference record since the 2013-2014 season, the No. 6 ranked Stanford  women’s basketball team (12-1, 2-0 Pac-12) opened conference play with consecutive wins over their Southern California neighbors in Maples Pavilion. On Friday night, the Cardinal beat USC (10-3, 0-2 Pac-12) by a score of 72-64 before coming back from two double digit deficits against UCLA (9-6, 2-1 Pac-12) to win 86-80 Sunday afternoon.

Women’s basketball dominates at Rainbow Wahine Showdown

While students across campus headed home for the holiday, Stanford women’s basketball spent their their Thanksgiving in Hawaii, competing in the Rainbow Wahine Showdown in Honolulu. They took on the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles on Friday, the American University Eagles on Saturday, and the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors on Sunday, emerging from the weekend with three wins. The Cardinal are currently undefeated on the season.

Women’s basketball overcomes American University in day two of Rainbow Wahine Showdown

In day two of the Rainbow Wahine Showdown in Honolulu, Hawai’i, No. 8 Stanford women’s basketball (5-0) improved their undefeated season record with a 71-49 victory over American University (3-2). Led by senior forward Alanna Smith’s career-high 25-point performance, the Cardinal produced 26 points in the fourth quarter to outscore the Eagles.
