On the second day of the four-day NCAA Track and Field Championships, fifth-year senior Harrison Williams, Stanford’s most decorated multi-events male athlete, became the program’s highest outdoor NCAA decathlon finisher after recording a second-place finish with 8,010 points on Thursday night.
Track and field will be represented by 14 athletes at the NCAA Championships June 5-8. Thirteen of those individuals solidified their trip to Austin, Texas at the three-day NCAA West Regionals in Sacramento Thursday to Saturday.
In the presence of Olympians and world-record holders, Stanford excelled at the 24th Payton Jordan Invitational on Thursday night. Sophomore Connor Lane and junior Alex Ostberg each broke their personal bests in the men’s 5,000 meters by 17 seconds in one of their strongest showings of the year. Stanford now has six athletes under 13:50 at the distance.
Eight Stanford track athletes will represent the Cardinal this weekend at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, Alabama. Hosted at the Birmingham CrossPlex, the two-day national championship welcomes only the top 16 individuals and 12 fastest relay teams in each event.
The might of Stanford’s indoor track and field team will converge at the University of Washington’s Dempsey Indoor Center this weekend for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championships.
The Cardinal broke into the record books this past weekend when the No. 11 men’s and No. 15 women’s track and field teams traveled to Seattle for the University of Washington (UW) Invitational.

Stanford’s men’s and women’s cross country teams each placed fourth on Saturday at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Kentucky, marking the first time since 2006 that both teams have placed on the podium.
