On a bright sunny Sunday afternoon, the Stanford men’s soccer team (8-2-4, Pac-12 5-1-1) defeated the Washington Huskies (8-7-0, 3-4-0), by a score of 3-1. The men entered Sunday’s match coming off of Thursday’s 2-2 tie against Oregon State (8-4-3, 4-2-1).
No. 12 Stanford Men’s Soccer (7-2-4, 4-1-1 Pac-12) took Oregon State (7-4-3, 3-2-1 Pac-12) to second overtime this past Thursday, leaving the match tied up at 2-2. The Cardinal sought redemption against the Beavers after the 0-1 loss that took place two games ago on October 11th – the only conference loss the Cardinal have suffered this season. At that first match against Oregon, Beaver forward Gloire Amanda took the game away from Stanford with a goal in the 23rd minute, backed up by an OSU defense that prevented any equalizing shots.
This Sunday packs a pair of home games for Cardinal soccer, when the No. 1 ranked women’s team (13-0-1, 6-0-0) will host the Colorado Buffaloes (12-0-3, 4-0-2) at 12pm, and later at 3pm the No. 12 ranked men’s team (7-2-3, 4-1-0) will seek to fend off the Washington Huskies (8-6-0, 3-3-0) in a rematch of the previous Sunday’s contest.
Ending their Pacific Northwest road trip, No. 12 Stanford men’s soccer (7-2-3, 4-1-0 Pac-12) returns home to take on Oregon State (7-4-2, 3-2-0 Pac-12) tonight in the programs’ second meeting of the season.
After a double overtime thriller, No. 10 Stanford men’s soccer (7-2-3, 4-1-0 Pac-12) defeated Washington (7-6-0, 2-3-0) 3-2. Throughout the game, Stanford was able to capitalize on set pieces, which in the end secured their victory. Sophomore Arda Bulut scored the winning goal, which was the first of his career.
