Men’s golf takes second at Western Intercollegiate

No. 14 Stanford men’s golf made the short drive down to Santa Cruz over this Masters weekend for the 71st annual Western Intercollegiate, hosted by San Jose State at Pasatiempo Golf Club. It was the team’s first competition since its first win of the season at the Goodwin last weekend over top-ranked USC. The Cardinal couldn’t quite find the same magic, but took home a distant second place, trailing only the Trojans in the fifteen team field.

Great win at The Goodwin

In the 49th installment of the golf tournament known as The Goodwin, played at the Stanford golf course, No. 12 Stanford men’s golf earned their first victory of the season, fending off No. 1 USC at home. Capitalizing on the home course advantage during the three-day tournament, Stanford led the field from beginning to end. The Cardinal held a nine-shot lead after round one, a one shot lead after round two and finished the tournament back at a nine-shot victory.
