The No. 8 men’s volleyball team (11-5, 1-1 MPSF) successfully claimed its third consecutive sweep, defeating UC San Diego on Saturday night (6-10, 0-3 Big West). The team continued its high level of play, and the men showed resilience when UCSD made runs late into the match.
After three electrifying wins in the Barbara Kalbus Invitational at UC Irvine, the Stanford women’s water polo team (10-1, 1-0 MPSF) dropped their first match of the year to defending champions USC. From Friday through Sunday, the No. 2 Cardinal cleaved a path through No. 21 CSUN, No. 8 Arizona State and No. 3 UCLA before the No. 1 Trojans won the final game of the tournament.
No. 8 Stanford men’s volleyball (10-5, 3-2 MPSF) broke open the broom closet for the second straight match to sweep Grand Canyon University (GCU) (7-9, 0-4 MPSF). The team played efficient volleyball, closing out the match in just over an hour. That hour saw just seven total tie scores and a singular lead change.
Tomorrow, Stanford men’s swimming and diving will compete in their final meet of the season across the Bay against top-ranked California.
The second-ranked women’s water polo team (7-0, 1-0 MPSF) travels to Irvine, CA, this weekend to compete in the 13th annual Barbara Kalbus Invitational hosted by UC Irvine (UCI).
Stanford beach volleyball (0-0) begins its season tomorrow in Hawaii at the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic. At the Classic, the preseason No. 11 Cardinal will have the opportunity to play against a few of the best teams in the nation.
After being derailed by a two week road trip, the Stanford men’s volleyball 2019 Revenge Tour is back in full swing. The No. 9 Cardinal (9-5, 2-2 MPSF) swept Concordia University (5-10, 1-2) in three sets on Saturday. The Eagles had dispatched the Cardinal in three sets almost exactly a year ago.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Stanford women’s swimming and diving team (7-0, 7-0 Pac-12) ended their dual meet season undefeated after a dominant 192-107 victory against No. 6 California (7-2, 6-1). The top-ranked Cardinal advanced their win streak to 30 consecutive dual meets.
