A campus arborist determined that the ropes have likely been hanging for 18 to 24 months. The University wrote that they “cannot be certain whether the ropes were deliberately fashioned in the shape of nooses, or were part of an abandoned swing or rope ladder" and condemned nooses as an unacceptable symbol of anti-Black racism.

Approximately 7,500 alumni and guests attended Stanford’s Alumni Reunion from Thursday through Sunday after a year of postponement. Many alumni recounted their Stanford experiences and expressed their appreciation for the community.
