Starting July 1st 2015, Mary Hawn, the current director of gastrointestinal surgery and vice chair for quality and clinical effectiveness at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, will be serving as the new chair of the department of surgery at the Stanford University School of Medicine.

At a Board of Trustees meeting earlier this week, Provost John Etchemendy Ph.D. ’83 announced a name change for the Stanford School of Earth Sciences. The change took effect on Feb. 11, and the school is now officially named the “Stanford School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences.”
