Suspicious person sighted in Mudd chemistry building

May 23, 2019, 5:35 p.m.

Yesterday at 5:47 p.m. sightings of a suspicious person attempting to enter several labs in the  Mudd Chemistry building was reported to Stanford University Department of Public Safety (SUDPS).

According to SUPDS spokesperson Bill Larson, the person was a white male in his mid-thirties with long hair and an average build. He was reported attempting to gain entry to labs on the second and third floor of the building in the afternoon.

“When the individual was confronted by the reporting party he ran down a flight of stairs,” Larson wrote in an email to The Daily. “The deputies conducted a search for the individual in and around the building with negative results.”

Shortly thereafter, Todd Eberspacher, Facilities and IT manager for the chemistry department, notified students and staff in an email to make sure doors are secure when entering and exiting the building, and to report suspicious incidents as soon as possible.
