Stanford softball (4-5) heads south this weekend to take on five teams in the Mary Nutter Classic in Cathedral City, California. After three tough home losses in last weekend’s Nike Invitational, the Cardinal are looking to rebound as they face No. 17 Missouri (6-0), San Jose State (3-8), Boise State (0-11), NC State (5-4) and San Diego State (7-3) this weekend.

Despite the losses, several Stanford players put up strong individual performances. Sophomore catcher Victoria Molina paced the Cardinal offensively last weekend, plating five runners while a hitting home run and a double. All-American senior Kayla Bonstrom is continuing to build on her 2015 success. This season she is hitting .357 and leads the team with 10 hits and 8 runs.

The Cardinal have all of the pieces to succeed, but the team has yet to fully utilize its talents. Stanford hopes to prove itself this weekend when it faces its first ranked opponent on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Live statistics will be available on GoStanford.com, and a live stream will be available for a subscription fee.
