After shutting out then-No. 16 Arizona State at Maples Pavilion on Friday night, the Stanford women’s volleyball team heads into perhaps its most difficult road trip of the season on a high note riding a seven-game winning streak.

The last time the Stanford women’s volleyball team lost a match, Stanford was not close to being in session and Barack Obama and Mitt Romney were a month away from their first presidential debate. Thursday night in Los Angeles, Cardinal’s incredible 22-game winning streak came to an end at the hands of No. 8 USC, 3-1.
The Wopat twins have been a major force this season in helping the No. 5 Cardinal reach 14-3 (8-3 Pac-12). Carly was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week for Sep. 26-Oct. 2 as well as the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week on Sep. 12–making her the only player ever to win Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards in Pac-12 volleyball.
After a convincing six-set sweep over the Oregon schools last weekend, the No. 3 Stanford women’s volleyball team (18-2, 9-2 Pac-10) looks to bring its dominance back home as it takes on the Los Angeles schools in a pair of top-10 matchups…
The No. 1 Stanford women’s volleyball team (14-1, 5-1 Pac-10) headed south last weekend to face No. 8 USC (14-3, 3-2) and No. 12 UCLA (12-4, 2-3) on Friday and Saturday. To kick off the weekend, the Card pulled out a four-set victory over the Trojans, 18-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-16. However, Stanford couldn’t keep up its momentum, and the Bruins ended the Cardinal’s undefeated run in a five-set thriller the following night, 25-21, 16-25, 25-27, 25-23, 15-12.
