The Stanford track and field squad heads to the Pac-12 Championships in Los Angeles this weekend with its eyes focused on Oregon, which has won both the male and female meet in each of the past four years.
This weekend the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championship starts off its 21st year of competition, but more importantly, this weekend marks an opportunity for the Stanford women’s track and field team to bring home its ninth MPSF title.
Former Georgetown track and field associate head coach Chris Miltenberg will be the new Franklin P. Johnson Director of Track & Field and Stanford cross-country head coach, officially announced by Stanford athletic director Bernard Muir on Monday.
Chris Derrick has had a good run so far. The 2012 graduate received a degree in economics with a focus in law and has become one of the most decorated distance runners in Stanford history. But it wasn’t always that way. Until high school, Derrick played basketball and baseball but found that his lack of ability left him at a dead end.
