Last Saturday, the Stanford wrestling team defeated San Francisco State 28-11 on campus before falling 24-13 to CSU Bakersfield on the road the following day. Next up it faces the tough task of No. 12 Central Michigan at Senior Day this Saturday.
Mixed results turned the Stanford wrestling team’s trip to Columbia, Mo., this past Saturday into a bittersweet visit as the Cardinal fell to 4-3 on the young season. The Cardinal picked up one in each column, yet the win against South Dakota State early on in the day was overshadowed by the crushing defeat by No. 7 Missouri.
Coming off two impressive home wins against Cal State Bakersfield and Menlo College this past weekend, the Cardinal wrestling team will travel to Chattanooga, Tenn. this Sunday to take on the Central Michigan Chippewas, then do battle with the Mocs from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
The 2011-12 Cardinal wrestling season got off to an exciting start last Friday with its annual Cardinal vs. White wrestle-offs at Burnham Pavilion. In the first official event of the season, the top two Stanford wrestlers in each weight class went head-to-head to compete for a spot in the starting lineup.
The No. 23 Stanford wrestling team experienced success at the Lone Star Duals in Texas last Saturday, with victories over The Citadel, Brown and Harvard and a single loss to No. 17 Nebraska
