In what could have been two trap matches for the No. 6 Stanford’s women’s volleyball team, the Cardinal didn’t blink following its grind-it-out win over UCLA last Friday. It swept both Colorado and Utah to start a stretch of four consecutive road matches, its longest such streak of the conference season.
Having just grinded out a four-set victory over UCLA after a five-set marathon defeat to No. 4 USC, the Stanford’s women’s volleyball team will not get a break this weekend. The Cardinal begins a four-match road trip tonight against the Colorado Buffaloes in Boulder, Colo., where the Buffs are undefeated in five conference matches this season — with three of those wins coming against ranked opponents.
Coming off a Southern California road trip in which it was swept in a match for the first time since 2011 by No. 2 USC, Stanford women’s volleyball is eager to return to the friendly confines of Maples Pavilion, where it hasn’t lost since Dec. 3, 2011.
